Here’s what we’re learning: DEA inspections of dispensaries have already started in several states including Colorado, Mississippi, and Alabama. The DEA appears to be focusing first on dispensaries, and reports from attorneys nationwide indicate these inspections have generally been “friendly” so far.
That said, friendly doesn’t mean informal. What we’re hearing consistently is that the DEA is deferring to state compliance rules during these inspections. In other words: your state licensing and regulatory compliance is your first line of defense.
